Why the name changed

We built Task&co properly.
We evolved into amp&co®.

amp&co® was formerly known as Task&co. We built that name carefully — including filing a proper trade mark application with the UK Intellectual Property Office. When the name was challenged by a much larger, better-resourced business, taking on a prolonged fight wasn't the right use of time or money for a company focused on turning up and getting jobs done well.

So instead of fighting for a name, we evolved into one that's entirely our own.

The people doing the work haven't changed. The standard of work hasn't changed. What's changed is the name above the door — and, behind the scenes, a more joined-up way of running the business, starting with a single number for every client to reach us on.

The & was already part of who we are — and it turns out it's hiding in the name twice over. Say "and per se and" quickly enough, over and over, and it slurs into a single word: ampersand. That's genuinely where the symbol's name comes from — and where the first syllable, amp, comes from too.

Split the word ampersand down the middle and you get amp and &co. We didn't force that — we noticed it, and kept it. Two halves of the same word, standing for two people doing the work together. The connector, built right into what we're called.
